He violated the law. Read page 30 on California’s Driver Handbook. Regardless of my deafness, I don’t defense his position or share sympathy. A law is a law. Don’t drive through the Pedestrian! Even at a slow speed! It must park where it at and let all pass through (even it may turned into an hour or three).

Unfortunately I believe this guy was a hot head, and I believe there
were a lot of hot heads in the crowd. He should have backed up and
waited or called 911. But he was pressing the issue to get through. He
probably didn’t like being told to wait there by some jerk off laughing
in the crowed. That didn’t give him the right to escalate, but by that
point people were already dicking with his car and threatening him
because he honked. This is what happens when you have a riled up crowed,
with mob mentality who think they can get away with anything and a
driver who is unwilling to back down or even just backup a few feet.

yah i would have done the same thing. You surround my car, taunting me, throwing shit, blocking my escape and threatening me, I’ll plow your ass over in a heartbeat.

maybe one day a MOB will come at you, and then maybe you’ll see the kind of terror it can cause.
that guy was in fear of his life, and did what was necessary

    thumbs up to this guy!
those people were being total assholes, and I would have driven thru them too.
the MOB surrounded his car and were grabbing at his door handles and tapping on the glass, and then one of those dickheads actually had the nerve to start bouncing on his hood.
fuck them, they got what they deserved.

Deaf people often learn to read lips, that is how he knew what people were saying to him and many even learn to speak, it’s not perfect but I have known profoundly deaf people who can at least get simple points accross verbally. Having said that, his recollections of events don’t seem to gel with the video I have seen. Whether he is deliberately obfuscating the events or his memory is prone to human failings is a matter for the investigating officers.

Throw the book at him. He’s a danger to San Diego.

He can’t talk but he asked the spiderman shirt guy something? And he heard the response? how if he’s deaf? Or hes lying. hopefully his ass is sued off and hes bankrupted. Hes a careless reckless driver. He is guilty of attempted vehicular manslaughter. Take away his license forever. He was working at comic con and was clueless that the streets would be crowded 3 blocks from comic con? Liar.

This guy is a liar. The video footage clearly shows that no one surrounded or otherwise approached his car until he started honking his horn and nudged into the crowd. (The same footage is available elsewhere with sound that shows the honking.) This was a disaster of his own creation, and he should fess up to it.
