Interestingly, I was on a transatlantic flight recently. My last flight was with United, but I did not see DirectTV, and none of 60+ movies were captioned. Only a few foreign movies had subtitles.

Its been a long time coming. I flew internationally with V Australia and other European airlines. All provides CC on demand for Deaf viewers. This had been going for few years and United Airlines and other US based airlines needs to step up and invest in technology accessible to all of us.

Hiya…
I fly internationally each year,, BRITISH AIRWAYS has a few movies in their library that are closed captioned,, so thats one airline that needs to be NUDGED into getting similiar to United ie Direct TV.. this is fantastic news,, I wonder if UNITED only broadcasts on domestic airlines but NOT international long haul flights ????
Thanks for the info

Well done for your discovery! But…sorry guys, that’s really old news since European airlines already have set up like this since 2002 as well as other public transportation systems. Yet we still envy your latest technology with communications in USA! Cheers-

Its about time to have a closed caption on direct TV in the plane. BIG thanks to Joel Barish.
