Kudos to NAD for a successful fundraiser, but I cannot help but feel that the interviewees in this news clip are quite myopic.  ”Fun”, “meeting new people and old friends” and all those same old comments that we see all the time at any big deaf event.  Support NAD, sure, but nobody said anything about WHY they are supporting NAD?  And who cares about the way the tables are decorated? Also I saw CNN and Google there; two major, major corporations, but neither Howard nor Bobbie Beth mentioned them in their brief interviews.  Just “good to see friends and lots of people and happy to have their support for NAD”.  Bobbie mentioned Marlee, Shoshannah, CJ, and the other famous deafies.  She didn’t mention CNN, nor did she mention Google.  Why didn’t she?   Why didn’t iDeafNews interview the CNN group?  Who was the Google executive and why didn’t you interview him?  I thought it was very shortsighted of Bobbie and Howard, and these are our greatest leaders, our main ambassadors to the US Government and the hearing world.  They should be kissing Google and CNN’s butt, not Marlee’s.  Why don’t I see the Mayor of Berkeley?  Any US Representatives or Congressmen?  What about the President of UC Berkeley?  UCLA?  The ACLU?  NAD is supposed to be a political outreach organization.  They’re supposed to be lobbying on our behalf.Approx $145 thousand raised.  Great!! And all goes to “support NAD”.  Nothing about what NAD does or what they plan to do with the money?
