It’s me again, Stephen Schultz, co-chair for the Nostalgic Evening at the Riviera. My co-chair and wife, Eileen, joins me in the joy of viewing iDeafNews of the gala over and over again…what a blast it really was!  As a matter of fact, we’re already forming a Memorandum of Understanding with a non-profit community center at their invitation after hearing so much publicity about our organization!!  Announcement to follow soon.DSF-PS is planning a different and exciting event at a different venue early next year if not this year. Keep checking our website at DSF-PS.org from time to time.  All the best to you.

After seeing iDeafNews, I came away impressed with the high quality HD video coverages of the event. It’s especially important to document historical events such as Deaf Seniors Foundation of Palm Springs’s Nostalgic Evening at the Riviera to raise awareness and funds to help make possible a community center for deaf and hard of hearing people and to become a referral source for deaf seniors relating to senior housing and care needs.  My wife, Eileen and I, as co-chairs for the event had a wonderful time as did our guests after all the hard work done by our team of volunteers.  We still have a lot of work to do to make Coachella Valley’s beautiful desert cities much more accessible to deaf people, young and old, in order to be assured a high quality of life for those who vacation, visit or live in the desert. For those who did not attend the event, the gala weekend started on Friday night with a social at the Riviera’s Starlite lounge that drew a surprising number of guests, day of explorations on their own during the day Saturday, the gala in the evening that included everyone being photographed for a take home memento, presenting awards to our honored guests, entertainment by TOYs, a Russain theatre, live and silent auctions.  Those that did not want to end the night moved to the hotel’s Starlite lounge for continued socializing into early morning hours, and finally, a fabulous sit down breakfast at the Old Creek House on Sunday morning.  Spirits were high from beginning to end!  What a weekend to remember!!
